This very special lot comes from the Arbegona region in Sidama where Dege has been exploring elevations most producers consider impossible for coffee. At 2600m, the highest elevations for coffee cultivation in Ethiopia, Dege worked with a handful of smallholder who dared to see if coffee could truly ripen so high.
This first tiny batch was naturally processed. After careful selection, the ripe cherries were dried slowly on raised beds to preserve their vibrant character and highlight the unique conditions of this extreme elevation. The result is an exceptionally clean cup with red berry-like acidity, nectarine sweetness, a smooth body and a black tea finish.
We have named this lot Galatoma as a gesture of respect for nature and the gift it has given us. This is the first batch ever released from this remarkable elevation in Ethiopia. We are incredibly proud to share it and look forward to continuing this journey with Dege to uncover what is possible from these extreme heights.
