Basha Bekele is a farmer and mill manager in Sidama, Ethiopia, whose coffee beautifully captures the essence of the region’s unique terroir. He primarily grows the heirloom variety 74158, locally known as “Walega,” and collaborates with neighboring farmers to source cherries grown at impressive altitudes. While traditionally focused on dry processing, this year, Basha has also introduced honey processing.

When we visited Ethiopia last year, we met many amazing producers, but Basha stood out as someone we truly wanted to work with. In 2024, he won the1st place in the Ethiopian Cup of Excellence. Our lot is not from the same winning lot, but it was processed using a similar method.

We’re proud to have partnered with Basha early in his journey to international recognition. His coffees are undoubtedly poised to become even more celebrated, and we’re thrilled to share this outstanding coffee with you.
