From fish nets to coffee beds

When I was breeding fish, I remember catching one from the tank and putting the net down. The net was dirty with algae and buildup, and it held water like a sponge. I touched it lightly with my fingers and suddenly the water poured out.

That small moment stayed with me. It seemed like a small thing, but it showed me how even a thin layer like a net can change how water moves, by lowering resistance and creating a faster path for flow.

Years later, the same thing in a dripper

I was testing the SOLO Dripper and placed a mesh disc under the filter. The water drained faster and the cup was still clean, but the texture I usually get with SOLO was missing.

It reminded me of the net. Less resistance means faster flow, and faster flow does not always mean a better cup.

Resistance is not the enemy. It is part of how the bed builds body and structure. When you remove it, you gain speed and lose something else. Knowing which one you want is the whole decision.
