How I fold and rinse every kind of filter paper

SOLO was always meant to be simple and flexible.

It is a flat bottom dripper, so naturally you would reach for a wave type filter. But if you ever run out, or only have trapezoid or conical papers nearby, do not worry. With a little folding and proper rinsing, they all work just fine.

I know this might feel tricky at first, especially if you are new to hand brewing. What seems simple can feel awkward until you have done it a few times.

Wave

Not every filter in the pack behaves the same.

The ones at the bottom of the stack are usually more open at the base. So I always hold the top edge, pour a small amount of water, then gently press it down so the filter sits flat. After that I do a full rinse.

The tighter ones, usually from the middle or top of the pack, are narrower and sit better by default. Just place and rinse normally.

Trapezoid and conical

Both work. Fold the seam over, seat the paper into the flat base as evenly as you can, and rinse thoroughly so the paper settles against the wall rather than floating away from it.

The goal is always the same. Get the paper sitting flat and steady before any coffee goes in.
